Destin/30A Beach Bites Round Up
Hello & Happy Summer! If you follow me on Instagram, you know that we just returned from Smith Family Vacation in Miramar Beach, FL.
Miramar Beach is in between Destin & the beginning of 30A.
Family vacation entails lots of cooking at the condo, because we all love to cook & also there are 15 of us! We did grab a couple of bites out this trip, so I thought I would compile a list for you here on the blog!
2 Birds Coffee & Cafe
Two Birds was a new spot for us. The owners are from Lafayette & have created the cutest breakfast/lunch café. They have outdoor, indoor, & counter seating. The walls are lined with artwork for sale- I loved the vibe! They brew French Truck Coffee (out of Nola). I ordered the Birdie’s Iced Coffee & Petey had a vanilla latte (his fav!). My coffee was huge, but delish! I def had that coffee buzz well into the morning. For our meal we ordered the breakfast Sammy (a fork and knife bagel sandwich) & the avocado toast on their homemade sourdough bread. We loved everything, I think I may ask for an egg on top of my toast next time. We will for sure be back!
Sushimoto
If you have read my Anniversary trip post, you have already heard about our favorite sushi spot! Sushimoto is located in a strip mall & while the atmosphere is lacking the sushi is SO FRESH & delicious. We grabbed a late lunch and had no wait. Our favorite rolls- so fresh & so clean (covered in cilantro) & candy-bar. They don’t take reservations and you’ll likely have to wait outside or in your car at night.
Boshamps Oyster House
Looking for great food with outdoor seating & a view? Boshamps is your place! They have a huge deck & bar area overlooking the water perfect for grabbing a beer and some grub. I’ve had the burger in the past, but tried something different this trip. We started with fried okra spears served with a garlic ginger mayo- SO GOOD! We also ordered the crunchy yard bird sammy & the”honest” gulf fried grouper sandwich. Both served with fries and the grouper also comes with coleslaw. I absolutely love the buns they use! The sandwiches had a similar taste, so next time I may get the grouper grilled. They do not take reservations, but have beach games to play while you wait.
Blue Mountain Beach Creamery
This local spot is off of 30A and is about a 15-20 minute drive from Miramar Beach. It’s an adorable old house with window service & outdoor seating. You will almost always have to wait in line- don’t worry it’s worth it! The flavors change from day to day, but if German chocolate is on the menu Petey is getting it! I had the Dads Combo #2- espresso ice cream with Reese’s, Snickers, and Health Bar. This was the first time I’ve seen it on the menu— it’s was the bomb!!! If you head here- remember it’s CASH ONLY!
There you have it! A quick little round up of the beach bites we had last week. Want more recommendations? Check out our 2018 anniversary trip post. Until next time, follow along over on Instagram @thevintagefork .
Happy Eating- Liz
